Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor have been dating for about eight years, but they’re not looking to work together onscreen anytime soon.
“I can’t imagine,” Taylor told PvNew on the Emmys red carpet. “I don’t like seeing couples doing things because I’m always aware of the coupledom.”
Holland did reveal that they have been pitched “one or two” projects and admitted that she can see them on stage together in “The Chalk Garden,” a 1955 play by Enid Bagnold about a murder mystery involving a grandmother, her granddaughter and a governess. The script also got a 1964 film adaptation starring Deborah Kerr and Hayley Mills. “It’s a very rarified kind of play,” Taylor said.
The couple began dating in December 2015 after first meeting at a party a decade earlier. Paulson celebrated Taylor turning 81 on Sunday with a post on Instagram. “Happy Birthday to my one and only love,” she wrote beside a reel of photos of the couple. “You are, quite simply — my world. I love you.”
Taylor’s most recent work is on “The Morning Show” as Cybil Richards. “What a great break it was to get that show,” she said. “It’s a wonderful group of people.”
She continued, “Few shows have that kind of quality. It’s talking about real subjects and not in some kind of puffball way and it’s not sentimental. It could be pretty rough. There are a lot of wonderful characters … This third season, I thought, ‘They’re really doing it.’ They’re really doing what a news show has to contend with. They’re really doing what the workplace must contend with.”
“The Morning Show” is up for three SAG Awards next month, including best ensemble in a drama series as well as individual nominations for Jennifer Aniston and Billy Crudup.
Taylor appeared at the Emmy awards with Jon Cryer for a reunion of Chuck Lorre’s hit CBS sitcom, “Two and a Half Men.”
