2023 BET Awards: Drake and Glorilla Lead Nominations, Followed by 21 Savage and Lizzo

Following the release of two back-to-back chart-topping albums last summer (“Honestly, Nevermind” and his and 21 Savage’s joint “Her Loss“), Drake has scored seven BET Awards nominations for the 2023 show slated to take place on June 25 in Los Angeles. Memphis rapper Glorilla nearly meets him at a tie, clocking in with six recognitions as the 2022 winner of BET’s breakthrough hip-hop artist of the year.

Among his nominations, Drake is up for best group alongside 21 Savage, best collaboration with Future and Tems for their radio favorite “Wait for U,” and album of the year for “Her Loss.” Glorilla competes with Drake in the best collaboration category twice: once for her feature with HItkidd (“F.N.F. Let’s Go”) and another beside Cardi B (“Tomorrow 2”). The Memphis rapper is also up for album of the year for “Anyways, Life’s Great.”

21 Savage and Lizzo earned the third-highest nominations, up for five awards each. Beyoncé, Burna Boy, Chris Brown, Ice Spice, and SZA follow with four. Cardi B, Coco Jones, FLO, Future, Jack Harlow, Kendrick Lamar, Maverick City Music and Kirk Franklin, and Tems are tied with three nominations each. The awards also recognize actors, films and sportsmen and women. See the complete list below.

Connie Orlando, executive vice president of specials, music programming and music strategy, will oversee and executive produces the annual ceremony, along with Jamal Noisette. Jesse Collins Entertainment is the production company for the show, with Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay also serving as executive producers.
