“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest” is staying put at ABC for the foreseeable future.
PvNew has learned that ABC and Dick Clark Productions have extended their deal for the annual New Year’s Eve show through Jan. 1 2029.
Hosted by Seacrest from New York’s Times Square, the show serves as a celebration of the best music of the year, with performances by some of the biggest stars of the day. Details about co-hosts, performers, and additional locations will be announced at a later date. The show will air live on Dec. 31 beginning at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
Originally launched in 1972, the show has remained highly popular. The 2022 telecast attracted 13.8 million total viewers, with a 5.3 rating in the key adults 18-49 demographic in the midnight quarter hour. Clark famously hosted the show until 2005, when health issues forced him to cede full-time hosting duties to Seacrest. Clark continued to make appearances on the show, however, until his death in 2012.
This is the second deal for a Dick Clark Productions property announced in recent days. It was previously announced that the company has also secured a deal with CBS to air the Golden Globe Awards in 2024.
The 81st edition of the awards show will air Jan. 7 on the broadcast network immediately after an NFL on CBS doubleheader. The show will also stream on Paramount+ and be available on the CBS app as part of a new deal between CBS and the Golden Globes.
