During its presentation at the Television Critics Association’s winter 2023 press tour, Apple TV+ revealed a trailer for comedy series “Shrinking” starring Jason Segel and Harrison Ford, which premieres on Jan. 27.
The series follows Jimmy (Segel), a grieving therapist who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives, including his own. Ford plays Jimmy’s boss, who runs the therapy practice. Also starring are Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Michael Urie, Luke Tennie and Lukita Maxwell.
Segel, Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein co-created “Shrinking,” which is produced by Warner Bros. Television, where Lawrence is under an overall deal, and Lawrence’s Doozer Productions. Executive producers include Lawrence, Segel, Goldstein, Neil Goldman, director James Ponsoldt, Randall Winston, Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer.

Apple also revealed a first look at Season 2 of “Swagger.”
Inspired by NBA player Kevin Durant’s experiences, “Swagger” explores the world of elite youth basketball clubs, the players, their families and coaches, and “the game within the game.” The cast includes O’Shea Jackson Jr., Isaiah Hill, Shinelle Azoroh, Quvenzhané Wallis, Caleel Harris, Tristan Mack Wilds, Tessa Ferrer, James Bingham, Solomon Irama, Ozie Nzeribe, Jason Rivera, Christina Jackson, Sean Baker, Orlando Jones and Shannon Brown.
Reggie Rock Bythewood serves as creator, showrunner and director. The series is produced for Apple TV+ by Imagine Television Studios, Boardroom, CBS Studios and Undisputed Cinema. Executive producers include by Bythewood, Brian Grazer, Durant, Rich Kleiman, Francie Calfo and Joy Kecken while James Seidman serves as co-executive producer for Imagine Television Studios.

Eugene Levy’s upcoming travel series “The Reluctant Traveler” got a new trailer at TCA.
Hosted and executive produced by Levy, the series sees the actor experience local adventures with new friends, including immersing in a sound bath in the Maldives, ice floating in Finland, connecting with the Navajo Nation in Utah, captaining a sailboat in Lisbon, exploring the culinary culture of Tokyo, and journeying into the Costa Rican jungle. Along the way, Levy also stays in hotels including the historic Gritti Palace in Venice and a train hotel suspended above Kruger National Park in South Africa.
“The Reluctant Traveler” is produced for Apple TV+ by Twofour and is executive produced by Levy and David Brindley.

“Hello Tomorrow!” was another series to get a trailer at TCA.
Set in a retro-future world, “Hello Tomorrow!” follows a group of traveling salesmen hawking lunar timeshares. Jack (Billy Crudup) is a salesman of great talent and ambition,whose unshakeable faith in a brighter tomorrow inspires his coworkers, revitalizes his desperate customers, but threatens to leave him dangerously lost in the very dream that sustains him. Haneefah Wood, Alison Pill, Nicholas Podany, Dewshane Williams, Hank Azaria, Matthew Maher and Jacki Weaver also star.
Amit Bhalla and Lucas Jansen co-created the series, which is produced by MRC Television. Crudup, Stephen Falk, Jonathan Entwistle, Bhalla and Jansen serve as executive producers alongside Blake Griffin, Ryan Kalil and Noah Weinstein for Mortal Media.

“Dear Edward” got a new trailer.
Created by Jason Katims and based on Ann Napolitano’s novel of the same name, “Dear Edward” follows 12-year-old Edward Adler (Colin O’Brien), who survives a devastating commercial plane crash that kills every other passenger on the flight, including his family. As Edward and others try to make sense of life after the crash, unexpected friendships, romances and communities are formed. Also starring are Connie Britton, Taylor Schilling, Amy Forsyth, Eva Ariel Binder, Brittany S. Hall, Idris Debrand, Carter Hudson, Maxwell Jenkins, Jenna Qureshi, Audrey Corsa, Anna Uzele, Ivan Shaw and Dario Ladani Sanchez.

Apple also showed a first look at “Schmigadoon!” Season 2.
Having found true love in the town of Schmigadoon, Season 2 of “Schmigadoon!” will find Josh (Keegan-Michael Key) and Melissa (Cecily Strong) in Schmicago, the reimagined world of ’60s and ’70s musicals. Returning stars include Ariana DeBose, Martin Short, Dove Cameron, Jaime Camil, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Ann Harada, Jane Krakowski and Aaron Tveit, with Tituss Burgess and Patrick Page newly joining.
“Schmigadoon!” is co-created by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio, and produced by Universal Television and Broadway Video. Paul serves as showrunner and wrote all of the original songs for the series. Exeutive producers include Lorne Michaels and Andrew Singer on behalf of Broadway Video with Micah Frank co-executive producing.
Also announced at Wednesday’s TCA panel, Apple TV+ has unveiled the first look images and set the premiere date for the forthcoming drama “City on Fire” for May 12.
Hailing from creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the eight-episode Apple Original follows Samantha, an NYU student who is shot in Central Park on the Fourth of July in 2003. “Samantha is alone; there are no witnesses and very little physical evidence. Her friends’ band is playing her favorite downtown club but she leaves to meet someone, promising to return. She never does. As the crime against Samantha is investigated, she’s revealed to be the crucial connection between a series of mysterious citywide fires, the downtown music scene, and a wealthy uptown real estate family fraying under the strain of the many secrets they keep,” reads a description per Apple.
Chase Sui Wonders leads the cast as Samantha. She’s joined by Wyatt Oleff, Jemima Kirke, Nico Tortorella, Ashley Zukerman, Xavier Clyde, Max Milner, Alexandra Doke, Omid Abtahi, Kathleen Munroe and John Cameron Mitchell.
Oleff plays Charlie, a friend of Samantha’s who is struggling to cope with the death of his father on 9/11 two years earlier. After she is shot, he stops at nothing to unravel the mystery of what happened.
Schwartz and Savage wrote the scripts for all eight episodes and additionally serve as showrunners and executive producers under Fake Empire. Jesse Peretz directs four episodes and serves as executive producer. Fake Empire’s Lis Rowinski serves as co-executive producer.

The streamer revealed “The Last Thing He Told Me” will debut globally with the first two episodes of the seven-part series on April 14.
Starring and executive produced by Jennifer Garner, the series is based on Laura Dave’s best-selling book of the same name. Garner plays Hannah, a woman who is left with no choice but to build a relationship with her sixteen-year-old stepdaughter Bailey (Angourie Rice) if she wants to uncover the truth behind her husband’s mysterious disappearance.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Aisha Tyler, Augusto Aguilera, Geoff Stults and John Harlan Kim also star.
“The Last Thing He Told Me” marks the first collaboration between the married Dave and Singer, who serve as executive producers alongside Garner and Hello Sunshine’s Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter. Hello Sunshine first optioned the book before producing the series for Apple in connection with 20th Television. Olivia Newman (“Where the Crawdads Sing”) directs with Deniz Gamze Erguven, Daisy Von Scherler Mayer, and Lila Neugebauer.

Apple revealed the first looks at “Extrapolations” at Wednesday’s TCA panel and additionally announced the show’s premiere date, which is scheduled for March 17 with the first three episodes available for streaming on Apple TV+.
The eight-episode drama transports viewers into a near future in which the drastic effects of climate change have taken over the everyday life of humans.
From Apple: “Every story is different, but the fight for our future is universal. And when the fate of humanity is up against a ticking clock, the battle between courage and complacency has never been more urgent.”
“Extrapolations” stars Meryl Streep, Sienna Miller, Kit Harington, Daveed Diggs, Edward Norton, Diane Lane, Tahar Rahim, Yara Shahidi, Matthew Rhys, Gemma Chan, David Schwimmer, Adarsh Gourav, Keri Russell, Marion Cotillard, Forest Whitaker, Eiza González, Murray Bartlett, Indira Varma, Tobey Maguire, MaameYaa Boafo, Hari Nef, Heather Graham, Michael Gandolfini, Cherry Jones, Gaz Choudhry, Ben Harper, Judd Hirsch and Neska Rose.

Season 2 of “The Afterparty” is expected to arrive on April 28, Apple announced at Wednesday’s TCA panel. The streamer also shared first look images at the second chapter of the murder mystery.
Coming from Chris Miller and Phil Lord, the series details a different character’s account of one fateful evening, all told through the lens of popular film genres and unique visuals to match the storyteller’s perspective.The new mystery on Detective Danner’s track sheet dives into a wedding turned murderous when the groom turns up dead and suddenly, every guest is a suspect.
Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson and Zoë Chaoith return for Season 2 with Elizabeth Perkins, Zach Woods, Paul Walter Hauser, Poppy Liu, Anna Konkle, Jack Whitehall, Vivian Wu, John Cho and Ken Jeong joining.
TriStar TV and Sony Pictures Television produce the series for Apple as part of Lord and Miller’s five-year overall television deal. Miller serves as co-showrunner and executive producer with Anthony King. Lord executive produces through the pair’s production banner, Lord Miller. Aubrey Lee produces on behalf of Lord Miller.
