Wildling Pictures has launched a new TV division focusing high-end drama, kids, YA and family content.

The Toronto-based production company, whose feature film output includes Iris Apatow starrer “Young Wether” and David Bowie biopic “Stardust,” have unveiled their first scripted TV slate as part of the expansion.

Highlights include screen adaptations of novels “A Death at The Party” by Amy Stuart and “Clara Voyant” by Rachelle Delaney.

In “A Death at The Party” protagonist Nadine is in the middle of throwing a garden party when she finds herself face to face with a dead body in the basement. She soon embarks on a hunt for the truth. Screenwriter Joanne Sarazen (“Tammy’s Always Dying”) will adapt the novel into a series.

Delaney’s “Clara Voyant” is a coming-of-age about wannabe journalist and astrologer Clara, who is crushed when her student newspaper assigns her the horoscopes beat… until she realizes that she is actually clairvoyant. “I Woke Up A Vampire” scribe Veronika Paz is set to write the screenplay.

Wildling’s TV slate also encompasses a number of animated projects, including an adult animated series titled “Hot Flash” based on a short film by Thea Hollatz, which premiered at Sundance in 2020. Set at a TV news station, it centers around a woman dealing with menopause, in one instance experiencing a hot flush while reporting on a snowstorm. Susan Coyne (“Daisy Jones & The Six”) and James Schultz (“Disappearance at Clifton Hill”) will co-write the project while Kristy Neville exec produces.

On the kids side, Paulette Bourgeois and Alex G. Griffiths’ book series “Professor Goose” is set to get the animated treatment, with a pre-school series in development with CBC. The show will focus on scientist Marie Curious Goose, PhD as she fact-checks her great-aunt Mother Goose’s stories. Jocelyn Geddie (“Pinecone & Pony”, The Snoopy Show”) is attached to write the screenplay.

Wildling president Matt Code (“Accused”) executive produces alongside the company’s Natalie Urquhart (“Suits”) and Julie Strifler (“Easy Land”).

“Our team are proud to introduce Wildling’s selection of high quality IP and elevated scripted original series,” said Code. “Having built a strong reputation within the feature film production space, we are delighted to be expanding our expertise with the launch of our original TV content. We are looking forward to working with some incredible talent and introducing these projects to potential partners at Content London in a few weeks.”
