X, formerly known as Twitter, and Range Media Partners have inked a multi-show slate deal. Range will develop at least 10 shows spanning various genres and formats which X will distribute worldwide through a multi-year partnership.
“We’re building out more than just a content offering at X. We’re building a 360 degree media destination that encompasses the best in sports, news, and a variety of other audio and video categories. It’s essential to our strategy that we only partner with the best in class that live across those disciplines; Range Media Partners represents those players,” said X’s head of content, talent and brand sales Brett Weitz. “Their deep bench of talent, like Jim Rome, and enthusiasm for the direction of the platform make them perfect partners as we embark on this new venture.”
The first project is in partnership with sports commentator Rome. “The Jim Rome Show” is America’s longest running, nationally syndicated long-form sports talk program. His content will be adapted into a digital streaming format for the first time. Starting after the Super Bowl, the content will air on X throughout the year.
“I couldn’t be more hyped to develop and distribute my unique brand of content on X. Media distribution has dramatically changed and X provides an incredible opportunity for me to reach fans on the biggest, most dynamic platform in the world. And as X continues its meteoric growth, it simultaneously allows me to grow, connect and engage my audience as well as our brand partners on a massive scale. Day 1. All in. Let’s go!” Rome said in a statement.
This partnership comes as Range expands in the production and distribution landscape, following A+E Networks’ investment in Range and its deal with FilmNation Entertainment to co-produce and co-finance a slate of feature films.
Range Media Partners CEO Pete Micelli added that “his slate deal helps us continue to service our exceptional talent, and work with them seamlessly and collaboratively across the spectrum from content to commerce.”
