Fox’s Tubi Sets Sights on U.K., Europe With Hire of Ex-Endeavor Exec David Salmon as Head of International

Tubi, Fox Corp.’s ad-supported video-on-demand service, is eyeing a bigger international footprint: The streamer has tapped David Salmon, former CTO of Endeavor Streaming, as executive VP and managing director of international.

Salmon, based in the U.K., will report to Tubi CEO Anjali Sud, the ex-chief exec of Vimeo who started at the streamer in September.

Tubi’s biggest market is the U.S., where it first launched. The AVOD streamer is also available in Canada, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala and Panama. In a note on its website, Tubi says, “Tubi is not currently available to users in the EU and UK. We hope to relaunch in the EU and UK in the future.”

Most recently, Salmon was chief product and technology officer at Bambuser, an interactive live video streaming provider. Prior to that, he spent more than a decade at sports, media and entertainment group Endeavor, where he formed Endeavor Streaming, the company powering premium video services including UFC Fight Pass, WWE Network and NBA League Pass.

“[W]e believe our unique product and content strategy is ready for the global stage,” Sud said in a statement. “As other services raise subscription fees for consumers, we believe that audiences around the world will look for more choice, more personalization and less friction in how they are entertained. David brings an incredibly rare combination of entrepreneurial, technical and streaming expertise in global markets, and I’m thrilled to expand our footprint with his leadership.”

Salmon commented, “Tubi has an industry-leading position in the U.S. and we’re looking to replicate that success across international markets. We already have a fast-growing footprint in Canada, Australia and Central America, and I’m excited to join Anjali and the team during this time of growth to advance those efforts while expanding into new markets like the U.K. and further into Latin America.”

Tubi claims to have more than 70 million monthly active users. In the U.S., it offers a library of more than 200,000 movies and TV episodes, plus a collection of originals and almost 250 FAST channels.

Tubi is housed in the Tubi Media Group, a division of Fox Corp. that oversees the company’s digital businesses. Fox bought Tubi in 2020.
