A one-time retrospective show by Kendrick Lamar has been announced for Day N Vegas, a three-day hip-hop festival to take place in Las Vegas Nov. 12-14. Travis Scott and Tyler, the Creator join Lamar as nightly headliners, with such major names as Lil Baby, DaBaby, Doja Cat and SZA also on the bill.
Lamar’s appearance on opening night is being billed as his only live performance of 2021, and the subtitle under his name on the festival art makes it clear it will be a look back at his catalog and not something to promote a new album fans have been hoping for. His set is being advertised as: “One Night in Vegas. From ‘Section.80’ to ‘Damn,'” referencing his debut album from 2011 and his most recent release, which is now four years old.
Others among the dozens of acts announced for the three days include Lil Uzi Vert, Saweetie, YG, Polo G, Ari Lennox, Jazmine Sullivan. Thundercat, Baby Keem, Don Toliver, Snoh Aalegra, 24kGoldn, Earl Sweatshirt, Madlib, Kenny Mason, D Smoke, Denzel Curry and Chika.
A presale starts Friday at noon PT, followed by a general onsale at 5 p.m. that same day. The presale code will be offered to fans who sign up at the website here. Tickets start at $400 plus fees; VIP tickets start at $700. General fest
Some of the performers overlap with another festival that was announced Monday, Jay-Z’s Made in America, set for Labor Day weekend, although there won’t be much audience overlap, since MIA will take place back east in Philadelphia. Lil Baby is one of that two-day festival’s headliners, along with Justin Bieber.
