International Media Network has acquired the U.S. rights for the animated film “Johnny Puff: Secret Mission,” which is being sold at the European Film Market by Iuvit Media Sales.
Iuvit previously secured multiple sales including Spain (Melies), Portugal (NOS Audiovisuais), Middle East (Front Row), Turkey (Wediacorp), German-speaking Europe (Little Brother), CIS (Mint Films), Korea (AK Entertainment), and Hungary, Romania and Czech Republic (ADS Service).
IMN will release it theatrically in the second quarter of this year. The film is currently in theaters in Portugal and the Middle East, with theatrical releases in further territories scheduled through spring and fall 2024.
The film tells the story of a puffin, Johnny Puff, and his friends who go on a secret mission to save their beloved village from the villainous engineer Otto von Walrus.
The film, directed by Nestor F. Dennis, is inspired by the series “Puffins.”
Ryan Swenar, president of IMN, said: “We are excited to share this film with American audiences this summer. Our goal is to provide engaging family content where audiences can both laugh and learn, and ‘Johnny Puff’ certainly fits the bill.”
The film is produced by Cristobal Rodriguez and Nestor F. Dennis at Spain’s Melies Producciones, and ILBE in Italy, with the participation of WWPS and Evolution in the U.S.
Iuvit’s EFM lineup includes the animation features “A Giant Adventure” and “Sato, A Dog’s Tale,” the action movies “Fight Pride” and “Stand Your Ground,” and the thriller-horrors “The Reunion,” “Goldilocks and The Three Bears: Death and Porridge” and “A Day Like a Week.”
