Miami-based production powerhouse BTF Media (“Maradona, Blessed Dream”) has announced new appointments and promotions to expand its management team and position in Spanish-speaking markets.

Company founders Ricardo Coeto and Francisco Cordero will now serve as co-CEOs of the company. Cordero will lead business affairs and Ricardo creative affairs.

The film-TV company, whose recent projects include a Frida Kahlo TV series co-produced with the Frida Kahlo estate, has appointed industry veteran Yoselín Pérez Valdez as SVP of sales.

In her new position,she will head up BTF’s front office, helping secure new deals with clients. Pérez Valdez has more than 20 years of experience within the advertising and sales industry.

Ivonne Vela, former CMS manager at BTF, has been promoted to SVP of business affairs. Vela will oversee the operations of the management and back office team, as well as working with future stakeholders and managing projects.

“We are very proud to announce the new leadership for the company,” said Coeto. “They all bring a remarkable value, experience and passion to our BTF family.”

In further moves, Marco Forte, who previously oversaw the Mexican production office, has been promoted to SVP of New Ventures, overseeing new business opportunities.

Forte will also lead the application of policies and procedures based on a recent ISO certificate received by BTF from the International Organization for Standardization, which endorses company structures and business practices.

Verónica Álvarez and Sergio Lazarov, who both have a strong background in unscripted productions for Mexico and the U.S. will continue to lead BTF this type of output as joint VPs of unscripted content.

Álvarez will oversee Mexico and Lazarov U.S. projects. Álvarez has over 20 years of experience as an executive director of scripted content.

Lazarov has been directing and producing large scale live shows for over 20 years for the U.S. Hispanic market.

Cordero added: “This new structure will allow us to be more competitive within the industry, not only from a corporate and organizational approach, but also from creative and business, in order to leverage our positioning.”

BTF has also reinforced its creative team expanding its coterie of in-house writers, showrunners, and executive producers, This includes Ivonne Niño (“Le Pop,” “Pancho Villa: El Centauro del Norte”); Fides Velasco (“Pacto de Sangre”); Rafa Lara (“Pancho Villa: El Centauro del Norte”) and Héctor Valdez (“El Repatriado,”“Masks Vs Knights”).

Appointments for two further roles will be announced soon. The SVP of development will lead all creative operations, including general entertainment, series, and feature films, as well as BTF’s unscripted development. A Production SVP will oversee all aspects of production and post-production operations.

BTF Media operates in the U.S., Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and Spain.

Launched in 2010, some of its high-profile productions include “Maradona: Blessed Dream,” “Daddies on Request,” and “The Cleaning Lady”).

BTF has garnered an International Emmy nomination, a Telly Award, and a Spanish Academy best doc Goya for the documentary on the Spanish musicianJoaquín Sabina,“Feeling It.”
