Hulu is bringing an “only Murders in the Building” murder mystery interactive investigation to New York City.
Fans who have been keeping up with season three will recognize the immersive space at the United Palace Theater, which features at the center of this season’s murder mystery. On the show, Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez are the trio who find themselves once again investigating a murder. This time, it’s at the Goosebury Theater where Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd), a Hollywood action star, has been killed. Ben’s colleague Loretta (Meryl Streep) is the prime suspect.
Guests will be tasked with their personal crime scene investigation journey based on the show. Props and costumes from Season 3 will be on display as evidence.
Costume designer Dana Covarrubias said in a statement, “I am thrilled that our ‘only Murders’ fans will get to see the ‘Death Rattle Dazzle’ costumes in an up close and personal way at this event. My team and I worked for six months creating these costumes along with many local New York craftspeople including milliners, shoemakers, Broadway costume houses, custom glove makers and mascot builders. This is a rare opportunity to see the beauty (and sparkle!) of everyone’s work up close.”
Production designer Patrick Howe said, “Beloved fans of ‘only Murders in the Building,’ welcome to the Goosebury Theater. We are so happy to share this historic building with you, a beautiful palace that is a tribute to theater arts. It was so rewarding to design the settings for the show within the show that takes place on this stage.”
Howe continued, “My gifted art department brought the Goosebury Theater to life in three different eras: The 1920s with a set for‘Ashes to Ashes,’the 1960s with scenery for the musical‘No Strings,’and the 2023 premiere of the musical‘Death Rattle Dazzle.’It was a delight to design full-scale Broadway sets revealed in Episode 10 for three different amazing production numbers, creating the murder mystery environment of the Nova Scotia lighthouse along with fully realized costumes, hair, makeup and lighting.”
The experience runs from Sept 22-24 at the United Theater. Register for tickets here.
