‘Poor Things’ Sets Digital, Blu-ray Release With Delet<i></i>ed Scenes and Special Features

You’ll soon be able to enjoy Bella Baxter’s whimsical, sex-fueled adventures from the comfort of your own home.

Yorgos Lanthimos’s Oscar-nominated “Poor Things,” which hit theaters in December, will become available to purchase/rent on Prime Video and Apple TV+ on Feb. 27, and will release on Blu-ray/DVD on March 12.

The film is a story of“love, discovery and scientific daring” set in the Victorian era, based on an adaptation of Alasdair Grey’s novel of the same name. It stars Emma Stone as Bella, a Frankenstein-like woman who is brought back to life after her brain is replaced with that of her unborn child. Stone stars opposite Willem Dafoe, who plays the brilliant, yet unorthodox, scientist who resurrects Belle from the dead.

The “Poor Things” cast also includesMark Ruffaloas Duncan Wedderburn,Jerrod Carmichaelas Harry Astley and Ramy Youssef as Max McCandless, Christopher Abbott as Sir Aubrey de la Pole Blessington, Margaret Qualley, Kathryn Hunter, Suzy Bemba and Wayne Brett.

The digital and physical versions feature hours of bonus content, including a featurette with Stone, Lanthimos and the rest of the cast and crew as they take viewers behind the scenes of making the fantastical film. The short film explores the costumes, makeup and prosthetics, in addition to intimate tours of of the film’s many intricately designed sets. Also included in the upcoming releases are a slate of deleted scenes, titled “Brothel’s Doctor,” “Alfie’s Chapter” and “Bella’s Notebook.”

“Poor Things” is the second-most nominated film going into the 2024 Oscars, boasting 11 nods including for best picture and actress in a leading role for Stone.

In his review of the film, PvNew film critic Guy Lodge wrote that “Lanthimos serves up a macabre sensory banquet miles from his former Greek weird-wave ascetism, but just as subversive.”

Purchase/rent “Poor Things” on Prime Video and Apple TV+ beginning Feb. 27.
