AWARDS
The Hollywood Critics Assn. announced its first annual TV awards ceremony will take place on Aug. 22 in Los Angeles, Calif. while its 2022 Film Awards will be held on Jan. 6. The TV awards will be the first of its kind to separate broadcast and cable programming from streaming.
“We believe that honoring traditional television is crucial to maintaining the legacy of the medium,” said HCA chairman Scott Menzel. By separating broadcast [and] cable from streaming, we give each television platform the ability to be recognized. In addition, we hope that by splitting these categories, we will be able to honor several series that would normally be overlooked.
Voting officially kicks off next month, first for the TV awards on June 25 and then on Nov. 23 for the film awards.
