Julio Torres (“Problemista”), Tavi Gevinson (“Gossip Girl”), Elsie Fisher (“Eighth Grade”), Sarah Sherman (“Saturday Night Live”) and Grace Kuhlenschmidt (“The Daily Show”) topline the voice cast of animator Julian Glander’s feature debut, “Boys Go to Jupiter.”
Jack Corbett (NPR’s Planet Money TikTok), Joe Pera (“Joe Pera Talks With You”), singer-songwriter Miya Folick and comedians Cole Escola, Chris Fleming, River L. Ramirez, Eva Victor and Max Wittert round out the ensemble for the 3D animated coming of age story.
The film follows a teenage delivery driver in Florida, Billy, whose life becomes complicated by the arrival of alien creatures, all told in Glander’s distinct brightly-hued palette and visual style.
In the film, Billy becomes the owner and caretaker of a mysterious egg that hatches a creature from another world. Everything quickly spirals, and Billy is soon forced to make some hard choices about life, love, and the most important thing of all: money.
“I can’t believe how lucky I am to work with this cast,” says Glander. “Some of them are long-time pals, and others are superstars who I’ve admired for years and years. Really, can you imagine a better group of people to be locked in a soundproof booth with? Pinch me, I must be dreaming. Zzzzzz.”
Glander has previously directed projects for Adult Swim, Disney, HBO Max, and Cartoon Network, and is the creator of cult hit video game “Art Sqool.” His 3D illustrations appear frequently in the New York Times and New Yorker. In 2022, as a contestant on “Jeopardy,” Glander displayed an unusual talent: he “sang” a bizarre backwards version of the alphabet.
Glander previously directed Fisher, Escola and Victor on the HBO Max series “Summer Camp Island” and collaborated with Torres on the 2022 picture book “I Want to Be a Vase” from Simon & Schuster.
“Boys Go to Jupiter” is currently in post-production. Glander is self-financing the movie with Peisin Yang Lazo serving as executive producer.
