In its first four days of availability, Netflix’s “One Piece” live-action adaptation of the Japanese manga quickly sailed to the top of Netflix’s top 10 chart with 18.5 million total views. During the Aug. 28-Sept. 3 viewing window, the series reached the Top 10 in 93 countries, and debuted at No. 1 in 46 with 140.1 million hours viewed. While it’s not an exact comparison (Netflix only calculated viewing hours at the time), “Cowboy Bebop” — Netflix’s 2021 live-action adaptation based on the anime series of the same name, which was canceled after one season — opened at No. 9 on 15.26 million hours viewed in its first four days of availability.
The series’ big opening pushed “Who is Erin Carter?,” which previously opened at No.1 on the chart last week, down to second place with 15.8 million views. Created by Jack Lothian, the thriller opened on Aug. 24 and follows British expat Erin Carter (Evin Ahmad) who, after relocating to Barcelona, the teacher sparks police interest and an investigation into her violent and mysterious past.
On the film side, Adam Sandler’s “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah” forged passed the Japanese manga’s figures, earning 21.9 million views in its first full week of availability and taking the No. 1 spot overall.
Meanwhile on the English TV list, “Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones” opened to 5.7 million total views following its Aug. 30 debut. The unscripted series follows Dan Buettner as he travels the world highlighting the health practices of diverse communities across the globe from Japan to Costa Rica.
In its fourth week among the Top 10, “Painkiller” moved to No. 4 on the list with 3.4 million total views. With a runtime of nearly 5 hours, the limited series picked up an additional 16.7 million hours viewed, still coming ahead of “The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On” Season 2.
The dating series hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey managed another 3.1 million views during the viewing window. In its first full week of streaming was viewed an additional 22.9 million hours viewed with a runtime of 7.22 hours.
Also, on the unscripted side, “Untold: Swamp Kings” picked up 1.9 million total views in its first full week of availability. That’s a notable fall from its opening figures that placed the docuseries at No. 4 with 5 million total views.
“Disenchantment” Season 5 opened at No. 5 with 1.4 million total views after revealing the new installment would be its last. With a runtime of 4.14 hours, the show recorded 6.6 million total hours viewed.
Elsewhere on the chart is “Cocomelon” Season 8 (1.6 million views) and “Gabby’s Dollhouse” Season 8 (1.5 million views).
