Keke Palmer has joined the cast of “Good Fortune,” a comedy from Aziz Ansari.
She’ll star alongside Ansari, who wrote and directed the film in his debut feature, as well as Seth Rogen and Keanu Reeves.
Palmer’s role, as well as the entire plot of the movie, is being kept under wraps. Lionsgate is backing “Good Fortune,” which is currently in production in Los Angeles.
“Keke is a delight to work with,” Ansari said in a statement. “I’m so happy she’s a part of our cast and even more excited to provide a quote for this press release announcing her casting.”
“Good Fortune” is Ansari’s second attempt to make his directorial debut. The star of “Parks and Recreation” and creator of Netflix’s “Master of None” was previously working on the comedic drama “Being Mortal” for Searchlight. But production was infinitely suspended in 2022 over complaints about actor Bill Murray’s inappropriate behavior on set.
Anthony Katagas, Alan Yang and Ansari are producing “Good Fortune.” Jonathan McCoy is executive producing with AnizAnsari. At Lionsgate, the film will be overseen by Brady Fujikawa and Jon Humphrey. Dan Freedman, Phil Strina, John Biondo, and Matt Leonetti negotiated the deal for the studio.
Palmer rose to fame as a preteen in the family film “Akeelah and the Bee” and has since starred in films and television shows including Jordan Peele’s “Nope,” the Jennifer Lopez-led “Hustlers” and Nickelodeon’s “True Jackson, VP.” The internet’s favorite Meme Queen also hosts the podcast “Baby, This Is Keke Palmer.”
She is represented by 3 Arts, LUNA PR, and Hertz Lichtenstein Young & Polk.
