Born in Brooklyn, her given name is Josia Ruby Kushner. At age 5, JoJo booked her first ever audition to play Paige in Nancy Meyers' The Intern. During the same month, she worked with Baz Luhrmann and Gisele Bundchen on a Chanel No. 5 commercial. JoJo continues to work in television and film and is also a member of a local musical theater company and a competitive dance company.
