At the American Legion's California state finals in 1992, he placed second to a fellow competitor hailing from Fresno.While they didn't know each other at the time, Jonathan and actor/producer Bradley Cooper both graduated from Georgetown University in 1997.Jonathan's first time traveling overseas as a young adult was to Turkey, where he studied for a semester as a sophomore in college.Jonathan originally declined the audition for the role of Dick Andy because the location was so far from LA and because he was afraid to leave his two teenage daughters home alone while shooting.When Jonathan joined the US Navy in 1997, his nickname at officer candidate school in Pensacola was "Han Solo".
