

Bio: Gehan Cooray was born on October 6, 1987 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He is an actor and producer, known for The Billionaire (2020), The Land of Oz (2015) and Popping the Question (2014).
Tivia: Following the British system of education, Gehan completed his G.C.E Advanced Level Examination at St. Joseph's College in Colombo, Sri Lanka, which is where he schooled. His A Level subjects included French, English Literature and Drama and Theatre.Classically trained Baritone.USC School of Theatre Alum. Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from the University of Southern California, in May 2009. Minored in Cinema-Television and Psychology.Sang the role of the villainous Count Almaviva in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro", while directing the production of this opera.Played the role of Gaston in the stage musical version of Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast'.Performed the title character Figaro in Rossini's Italian opera 'The Barber of Seville', which he also directed.Gehan had his Carnegie Hall debut in October 2019, with a Solo Concert for which the Chief Guest was the Chef de Cabinet to the United Nations Secretary General.Gehan's first feature film "The Billionaire" was eligible for both Oscar Nominations and Golden Globe Award Nominations in 2021, appearing on the official reminder list of Oscar Eligible features.Gehan was interviewed by Patricia Danaher of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, after his feature film 'The Billionaire' became eligible for Golden Globe Award nominations in a number of categories including Best Comedy or Musical."The Billionaire" won the Best Comedy Feature Award at the Burbank International Film Festival in 2020. This was a film that Gehan executive produced and played the title role in, having adapted the screenplay from a George Bernard Shaw play.
