Thelma Davis, one of the longest dancers of the original Soul Train gang was the smoothest, coolest, and the most divine of the female dancers. She was a true definition of a dancer; her sexy but graceful dancing, class and grace as a dancer and lady, and her signature popular short cut afro made her one of the most identifiable and popular female dancers of 1970s Soul Train. Thelma brought to Soul Train a dancing style that put her in a class of her own and entertained viewing audiences with her black beauty and polished dancing moves and image. She differentiated her dancing style from the norm by showing a female could "get down" but in elegance. Thelma along with other females of the dancing gang help provide positive images of women of color and became role models to many young black girls who watched them.
