Marina Tamayo

Marina Tamayo is a Sydney based professional Flamenco Dance artist, choreographer and teacher. She trained in Spain both with the gypsies of Sacromonte, Granada (where her family are from) and in more formal Flamenco institutions in Madrid, Jerez and Granada with some of the worlds most recognized Gypsy artists including Manolete (dec), Luis de Luis, Paco Torres (dec), Belen Maya.Marina Tamayo is the Director of Flamenco Australia, an agency dedicated to education and community engagement, in Flamenco. It was established in 1998, hosting international artists for performance collaborations, producing major dance works for contemporary dance festivals, commissions for private sectors, engages Australian community in dance classes, tutorials, regional tours festivals and shows.Tamayo performs as soloist and choreographed her section in Benjamin Millpieds re-imagining of ' Carmen'.
