Nowras Tharb (born 8 August 1994) is a British Iraqi actor and director born in Islington, London, England. An Arabic speaker, he is known for his screen performances as Baghdad ATC in the Apple TV+ series Hijack (2023), and Rafiq, a grieving Syrian father, in the film Distant Sky (2022). Making his London stage debut in 2006 as Haroun in 'Haroun and the Sea of Stories', he toured the UK as Jamal in the award-winning play 'The Syrian Baker' in 2022. Trained at LAMDA in Shakespeare and Jacobean, he fell in love with classical text in his early years; appearing as King Edward IV in 'Richard III' at the Cochrane Theatre. His following years were spent studying medicinal chemistry at the University of Manchester, where Nowras developed a deep love for cinema, jazz and poetry, prompting his journey back to the arts.After returning to London with a Masters degree, Nowras returned to stage as George H.
