Tivia: Ethan Hawke and Richard Masur were two of the few human co-stars Jed allowed to become close friends.He was a Canadian timber wolf-Alaskan Malamute hybrid. His mother was a captive Vancouver Island wolf from British Columbia's Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. His father was an Alaskan Malamute originally from Juneau, Alaska's Gastineau Humane Society.Jed was born at the Whatcom Humane Society in Bellingham, Washington. His caretaker was Gary Winkler until Winkler generously gave the wolf dog to Clint Rowe for cinematic filming productions.His shrouded carcass was airlifted on a small private aircraft from Clint Rowe's animal sanctuary in Acton, California to Gary Winkler's mixed dog breed sanctuary in Bellingham, Washington for his interment.His final film appearance was in White Fang 2: Myth of the White Wolf (1994), a sequel to the 1991 film. After filming that Disney live action cinematic production, Jean M. Simpson along with trainers from "Working Wildlife" and "Jungle Exotics" returned Jed to Clint's animal sanctuary in Acton, California. He remained there until his death.
