Scottish-born director Harry Watt began his career in the 1930s, and directed several documentaries during World War II, most notably Target for Tonight (1941). He went to Ealing Studios after the war, and the five films he made there were all shot in Africa or Australia. He turned to directing television in the 1950s, and afterward he went back to his roots and shot documentaries.
