She and her husband's "Save Star Trek" letter-writing campaign persuaded NBC to renew the original television series for a third season. Star Trek creator Gene Roddenbery hired her as a "fan liaison", and when Star Trek: The Motion Picture was conceived, Roddenberry found a minor role for her as thanks.
