Rick Spalla

Rick was introduced to the technical side of film and television production at an early age at his father's studio in Hollywood. In his teens he became proficient as an editor and cameraman, working on a wide range of projects. After attending film school at USC, he ventured into the world of independent filmmaking and has been producing films under his "Hip Films" banner since. He also directed and produced a number of television series including "Close Up" for TV Guide Network, and revisits of his father's "Hollywood Backstage" series for AMC, "High Road to Danger" for Red Bull and "The Open Road" Americana documentary series.In 2014 Spalla produced the documentary feature "And the Oscar Goes to..." in conjunction with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and Telling Pictures. Spalla is currently developing the feature film "Zeppelin Rising" which explores the early days of iconic guitarist Jimmy Page and the subsequent formation of the band Led Zeppelin. Other current ...
