(1953) to Lifesize (1974). In his last active years, the character actor turned to leading (old) man in two major works. Alexandre was indeed excellent as Fred, the hypochondriac widower, in the delicious Elsa y Fred (2005). As for his last contribution to his country's performing arts, it can be qualified as unforgettable. His embodiment of ailing and dying Caudillo Francisco Franco in 20-N: Los ��ltimos d��as de Franco (2008) constitutes the most impressive of swan songs.
