 An award-winning actor. In demand, accomplished writer. Producer. And now showrunner, Kathleen Robertson is the definition of a multi-hyphenate.As an actor, she was just added to the cast of the highly anticipated sixth and final season of the critically acclaimed Amazon series The Expanse. Robertson also recently wrapped production on Triage for ABC/Disney and director Jon Chu (Crazy Rich Asians). In addition, she appears in the Lionsgate series Swimming with Sharks opposite Diane Kruger, Kiernen Shipka and Donald Sutherland, a project for which she also created, produced and was showrunner.Robertson also starred on the Netflix drama Northern Rescue, the critically acclaimed TNT crime drama Murder in the First opposite Taye Diggs for three seasons and had a pivotal, recurring role opposite Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore on A&E's Emmy nominated Bates Motel. Reitman has also attached himself to direct the TV pilot Your Time is Up that Robertson wrote and is attached to star in. In addition, she adapted the novel Little Bee for Amazon and Academy Award winning actress Julia Roberts. Robertson was also recently brought on to adapt the comic book series Lady Killer for Dark Horse with Michelle Mac Laren (Westworld/Game of Thrones) directing.A native of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Robertson currently resides in Los Angeles.

[on social media] Like most of us do, I have a love/hate thing with it. Because I'm an actor, I get a lot of pressure to be on social media more, but I'm not super present on it. I have an Instagram account, but it's locked because I have two kids and I don't really feel comfortable having the world see my children. They didn't ask to be seen, but if I'm working on a TV show or a movie, I'm expected to help promote it by posting pictures of it or of my life, but the latter is not something that I'm comfortable with.

[on Murder in the First (2014)'s "freshness"] I love the fact that in every season we kept a few core characters, but everyone else is brand new. That felt really different and exciting as an actor. Sometimes, when you do a job for a show like this and it goes on and on, you can be like, "Oh, it feels like I'm doing the same thing week in, week out," but with this, each season felt like a brand new show. You have no idea where it's going to go. Of course, it's sad to see certain people go whom you love; like, we're not going to see Tom Felton anymore. He was a guy who, in the first season, we all fell in love with. We hated to see him leave, but he had to leave because that kind of thing is what gives the show such an energy. |
