Gabby Windey got candid about her love life, revealing that she is dating a woman.
While appearing on Wednesday’s episode of “The View,” the former “Bachelorette” shared that she has quietly been in a relationship with a woman.
“I always want to live my truth and my story. So, I have been seeing someone for a couple months, and I’ve been keeping it a little more private, because it is a bigger story and a bigger conversation, ’cause I’m dating a girl,” she told the hosts.
Windey, 32, said that she realized that she wanted to be in a relationship with a woman after a busy few years of filming “The Bachelor,” “The Bachelorette,” and “Dancing with the Stars.”
The reality star admitted that it was not an easy realization to accept.
“I think it was always a whisper in me that just got louder and louder, and I didn’t really know to pay attention to it,” she said.
“I think when this happens, there’s some shame obviously surrounding it. I think I had to a little bit navigate through the shame, ‘What is it? Where is it coming from?’ But, ultimately, I always want to just do me, do what I want, figure it out later.”
Windey described finally coming out as a “weight lifted” off of her and said that she is happy to be living her “full truth.”
“I don’t want to live and not be living my full truth. I don’t want to do that to myself. I don’t want to do it to my girlfriend. I don’t want to do it to other people who really care about me and feel like they owe me,” she explained. “I want them to hear it come from my mouth.”
When host Joy Behar asked Windey if she would be dating women from now on, the “Bachelor” alum made a smitten confession that she believes her current girlfriend is the one.
“I think it’s just my girl,” she gushed. “She’s so special. She makes me feel so safe, so loved, a love that I always wanted going on these dating shows.”
Soon after she made the announcement on the talk show, Windey took to Instagram to hard launch her girlfriend, comedian Robby Hoffman.
“Told you I’m a girls girl!!” she captioned a carousel of pictures of her and the “I’m Nervous” star over the course of their secret romance.
Windey also gave a message to her fans on her Instagram Story, acknowledging that so many people were “curious” about who she was dating.
“I love to like stir the pot and tease, but I did want to wait until I was ready because it is a larger conversation because I’m dating a girl,” she admitted. “And it’s been honestly, truly like the best experience over these last three months and I’ve been in a relationship like I feel like I’ve never had before.”
Windey also posted another snap of her sharing a passionate kiss with Hoffman backstage on the set of “The View.”
The former ICU nurse first appeared on Season 26 of “The Bachelor,” which aired early last year, where she and Rachel Recchia were the runner-ups vying for Clayton Echard’s love.
The Recchia and Windey went on to be the first-ever “co-bachelorettes” for Season 19, where the latter gave her final rose to contestant Erich Schwer.
After the couple got engaged during the finale of the show in September 2022, Windey called off the brief engagement just two months later in November.
“She felt they weren’t aligned and weren’t on the same page,” a source told E! News at the time.
“Gabby was hoping they could give each other space and work it out but ultimately decided they didn’t have a future.”
