Katy Perry Is at ‘Play’ in the Fields of Las Vegas With New Residency: Photo Gallery

Katy Perry is in Resorts World, not Wonderland, but you might not know the difference from getting a gander at her new Las Vegas residency, which opened at the city’s newest casino and hotel Wednesday night. The mushrooms are anywhere from nine to 20 feet tall. A cereal box is 10 feet tall by 16 feet long. A snail that Perry rides during one number is 11 feet long by 12 feet tall. Did we mention there is a giant toilet? She emerges from its 16-feet-tall faux-ceramic majesty. And yet amid all this, no one will mistake her for the Incredible Shrinking Woman, any more than anyone ever mistook her for a shrinking violet.

Produced by Baz Halpin, Perry’s five-act show features such hits as “California Gurls” and “Firework” as well as a cover of Whitney Houston’s “Greatest Love of All.” The production has been directed and choreographed by the Squared Division, aka Ashley Evans and Antony Ginandjar, with Kris Pooley acting as musical director. Halpin doubled as lighting designer as well as producer, and his Silent House Productions handled the production design. Costume designers are Zaldy, Heather Picchiottino and Johnny Wujek.

Check out this gallery of their collective work on the show, which runs in Resorts World Las Vegas’ 5,000-seat theater Dec. 31, Jan. 1, 7-8, 12, 14-15, and March 2, 4-5, 11-12, 16 and 18-19:
